Become the new Board of Dimensie!

Submit your motivational letter by the 31st of March 2024 to apply for the 23rd Board of Dimensie!

Become a Member of the 23rd Board of the Study Association Dimensie!
Because the current board of Dimensie passes on their functions over to the 23rd  board in September 2024, the application period has started. Are you excited about being a part of the board of a big study association? Besides having the opportunity to boost your CV, your professional/social skills, and your network, you also have the chance to organize the coolest events and to spend a whole year learning about managing a study association. You will meet loads of new people and work closely together with your team of fellow board members and other study associations.

The board consists of a chairperson, secretary, treasurer, and commissioners. These commissioners are responsible for the internal, external, educational affairs, and internationalization, and the books. Because we are an international organization, it is a good thing if you want to be an international board member!

In the fact sheet on the right, you can find an overview of the most important aspects of being a board member. Below, you can find a FAQ about being a board member.

Interested?
If you are interested in being the next board, we have some special events scheduled for you so that you can get to know the current board a little bit better and ask all the questions you may have.

Next to these scheduled events, you can always come by in the Rubix to talk to us in person or send us an email. We can tell you about what you do as a board member and you can also join us for 'Board for a Day' when we show you what we work on or take you to meetings, so you can get more insight into what it entails to be a board member of Dimensie for the different functions. If you are interested in this, contact one of the board members or email chairman@svdimensie.nl

Application

The application process will take place in April. You will write a short letter of motivation about your functions of interest and will be invited to an interview afterward. There are no specific requirements for this letter, but we would like to read what functions you are interested in.

Board year at Dimensie FAQ

Where can I find further information and ask all my questions?

You can, of course, always ask the current or former board members by writing us an email via board@svdimensie.nl or reaching out to us personally. Further, we plan on hosting a Board Interest Drink in the second semester of this academic year during which you are more than welcome to ask your questions! Ofcourse, you can always walk up to one of the Board Members.

Can I be a part-time board member?

Yes! You can spend time on your study while being a board member. It is important to inform your co-board members about this and make clear schedules. You will not be the first board member who combined her/his board year with a bachelor or master thesis or minor period. So, studying and being a board member at the same time is definitely possible.

How many hours per week will I spend on the board year?

As a board member, you are free to decide for yourself (as long as your colleagues agree) how many hours you spend on your board tasks. For every function, there are a few tasks that have to be done. But outside these tasks, you have plenty of time to set things up. The opening hours of the board room are from 09:30 till 16:00, but there are of course also the activities. In general, you spend between 28 and 40 hours per week in the board year as a full-time board member and around 15 to 30 hours per week as a part-time board member.

What about the costs?

The nice thing about being a board member of a Study Association is that your tuition costs will be partially covered by a board scholarship because the UT encourages being active. Click here for more information. Furthermore, activities organized by Dimensie which cost €5,- or less are free for you as a board member. The expenses you have are stemming mostly from activities and trips and sometimes drinks, dinners, etc. with other boards.

What do I learn?

Within a study program, you learn many skills needed for a professional career within the profession you’re studying for. But as a board member of any (Study) Association, you learn relevant (practical) skills that you can use for anything in life and your professional career. Taking responsibility, working in a team, planning your tasks, or Dimensie’s activities and networking are only a few examples of skills you’ll learn. Of course, as treasurer, you learn different things than as commissioner of internal affairs, but the above-mentioned skills are applicable to all functions.

How can I apply?

If you want to apply, but want to get some further information you can always contact us. For the application, you will have to write a motivational letter. You are free to choose the length, the things you write about, and the format. The deadline will be on the 5th of April. Please send it to chairman@svdimensie. After this, there will be an intake with one or more board members, one or more former board members, and a member of the Psychology staff.
